Endpaper Mitts — January-February 2007

Oops, fell off the planet for a few weeks there. See, this is why I need to always be part of a Secret Pal swap — it forces me to update properly and on a regular basis. To be fair, I moved again a month ago and that’s always a bit life-consuming. Also we haven’t had ‘net access at home until just recently, however now I have wireless broadband accessible all the time so there’s no excuse. Promise to do better, from now on.

Anyway. I finished the Endpaper Mitts! Five weeks ago, *cough*, actually, but there you go. (I only wove in the ends and blocked them two weeks ago, so it’s nearly current.) Here’s a picture.

Aren’t they just absolutely, utterly, gorgeous? They have already garnered more compliments than nearly everything else I’ve knitted put together. Delicate, elegant, simple, satisfying and pretty. Kind of retro and yet also very chic and of-the-moment. And warm, too (apart from the lack of fingers, obviously). Believe Eunny when she says they’re the perfect project for someone who’s not done fair isle before, for she is wise and clever and right on the money.

Have another picture.

*loves*

Details: Endpaper Mitts by Eunny Jang, knitted in RYC Cashsoft 4-ply on 2.5mm and 3mm double-pointed bamboo needles.

In other news, I am on a self-enforced yarn ban for at least a couple of months. I have a bunch of gifted (and purchased!) yarns that are calling out to be used in some interesting projects (actually, some of them already are, it’s been so long since I wrote the text for this post), and all I need to do is stay strong. Wish me luck!

Those are so beautiful! I still don’t understand how they can be stretchy enough, but maybe one day I’ll find out for myself…
