Finished project – Freedom and cables

Quickest of quick FO posts, but I have now found the right pompom* for my raspberry cabled hat, and I LOVE IT.

Those cables and the fold-up brim make this hat super-warm and cosy. And this yarn has a touch of silk luxe, which does no harm whatsoever.

Better photos (of the striped version too) and more details to come when I post the pattern (it’s currently being test knitted for me by Paula from Spin A Yarn – thank you, lovely!).

Pattern: Freedom and cables (knitwear design is not the reason I went self-employed, but it does seem a bit of a coincidence that I manage a pattern in the first month of freelancing, eh?)
Yarn/needles: Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK, in Raspberry pink/102
More details: Watch this space!

* From my local yarn shop – I should never have looked anywhere else, of course.

  1. Love that pom pom with it! I didn’t get as far as I wanted yesterday due to some serious wine tasting and picnics at the winery due to our first 75 degree day (isn’t it still supposed to be winter?) Hopefully, with the Super Bowl happening today, I’ll get a little further along. So far, so good!

    1. Ooh lucky you, we’re expecting sub-zero temperatures this week. And there is no rush (though I can’t wait to see it!).

This definitely does look cozy. I like how you went for a darker pom pom to contrast with the pink.

why can’t I print the pattern

    1. Hi Daphne. If you’d like to print the pattern, you can either copy and paste the text into a word document and print that, or you can use a site like (where you copy in the URL of the site that you want to print – and then you can choose to remove images etc). Hope you enjoy the hat if you decide to go ahead!
